Meeting a Facility Assistant
Turning a passion for outdoor living into everyday work
Our Facility department takes care of a wide range of practical tasks that keep the business running smoothly. That means the team works closely with colleagues from across the organisation. Meet Miklos, who enjoys a varied working day where he can combine his role with his interest in outdoor living.
What is your role at Oase Outdoors?
I am a Facility Assistant. Our small team handles a wide variety of tasks. No two days are the same, as we help colleagues from across the company with all kinds of different assignments.
One day we might be at a trade fair, the next we could be quality testing of tents, and the day after that we might be working in the showroom. One thing is certain: there is always plenty to do, and we get lots of hands-on experience with the products.
Facility is responsible for much of the practical work involved in photo shoots. This includes setting up lots of tents, both at our headquarters and out in nature. We also attend camping and outdoor trade fairs across Europe, where we help pack products from the warehouse, set up exhibition stands and pack everything down afterwards.
In collaboration with R&D, Marketing and Buying, we register and check all product samples ahead of the final product launch. We also carry out water and wind tests on all our tents, as well as product testing for quality reports used in our collaboration with suppliers.
What makes your field of work exciting?
I particularly enjoy my many touch points and collaborations across departments. For me, it makes for a varied and exciting working day.
Which results are you most proud of?
Definitely our stands at trade fairs. I really enjoy seeing everything come together in exhibition stands where both tents and equipment look their best. It is a real team effort, where we help each other along the way, and the result always looks great.
Can you share a moment that really stands out to you?
It would have to be a hiking trip I went on with some colleagues. After a long day on foot, we set up camp and slept in a warm tipi with a wood-burning stove. It was really cosy, and I love those kinds of trips.
What’s your best advice for someone considering a job at Oase?
Just do it. If you feel you are the right candidate for the role, send in your application!
Before I joined Oase, I worked as a pastry chef, and that had been my profession throughout my working life. But here, I have been able to bring my interest in outdoor living into my job. I think Oase is good at hiring the right people - colleagues who are skilled at what they do and who fit well into the team.
