Risk assessments, tests and documentation
All our products are subject to risk assessments from the very beginning as part of the product development process. This helps us identify which tests and documentation are required, and what the product must be able to perform under, to ensure it is ready for delivery, safe to use and fully compliant with both EU and national legislation.

Within the EU, strict requirements apply to the chemical safety of products that come into direct contact with food. These rules ensure that such products must not pose a risk to human health, change the composition of food in an unacceptable way, or negatively affect the food’s taste, smell or appearance.
We always carry out migration and content testing on all products intended for food contact. This is done to ensure that no harmful chemical substances transfer from the product into the food.
The glass and fork symbol is always displayed on the packaging or on the product itself when it is approved for food contact.
A crossed-out glass and fork symbol (insert symbol) is used on packaging or products where it may look like the product is suitable for food use, but it is not. Some of our cool bags and cool boxes carry this symbol, as we always recommend that food is packed in separate packaging before being placed inside the bag or box.
Approximately once a year, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration visits our headquarters to review our documentation. All inspection reports are published here.
All our camping furniture is assessed and tested in accordance with European standards for stability, strength and safety. The specific tests and assessments required depend on the furniture’s materials and construction.
If the furniture includes textiles that come into direct contact with bare skin, we also document that no harmful chemicals have been used that could affect the consumers’s health.
Within our Compliance and R&D departments, we have dedicated specialists who ensure that all our electrical products (such as lights, pumps, cool boxes and rechargeable batteries) and gas appliances always meet applicable legislation.
In close cooperation with suppliers and recognised testing agencies, we ensure that the required documentation and testing are in place before any products are shipped.
RoHS Directive
All electrical equipment must comply with the RoHS Directive, which restricts the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products.
Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
Products that can be connected to a power supply must comply with the EU Low Voltage Directive (LVD). This directive ensures that electrical equipment is safe to use and protects both health and safety.
Electrical and electronic products operating below 50V AC or 75V DC are not covered by the Low Voltage Directive. However, they must still be safe to use in accordance with EU rules on general product safety.
To ensure safety in the most practical and reliable way, we test these products according to the same standards used to meet the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive. This ensures a consistent level of safety across our electrical product range.
WEEE – correct disposal of electrical products
All electrical equipment must be disposed of correctly in accordance with EU rules on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). Our products display the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, which means the product must not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, it must be taken to recycling or separate collection, in line with the specific rules in the country where the product is sold.
CE marking
In our product range, the following product categories must be CE marked in accordance with applicable EU legislation:
- Electrical products
- Products with batteries
- Fire gloves
- Gas appliances
- Cool boxes
When a product carries the CE mark, it means that it complies with the relevant EU legislation for that specific product category. Products must not be CE marked unless they are covered by legal CE marking requirements.
Product safety is a key priority when it comes to sleeping bags and sleeping mats. To ensure correct guidance and safe use, our products are temperature tested in accordance with accredited ISO and EN standards.
Our designs are also thoroughly tested to ensure there is no risk of entrapment or suffocation, allowing the products to be used safely and with confidence.
We ensure that no harmful chemicals are used in these products, and our sleeping bags and mats comply with relevant EU legislation. CMR substances refer to chemicals that are carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction and are regulated under REACH. Textile products that come into direct contact with bare skin - including sleeping bags, mats, furniture and similar products - must be manufactured in compliance with these requirements.
Our suppliers are kept informed to ensure that all textile production meets current legislation. In addition, we carry out ongoing testing throughout the year to verify compliance.
Tents are at the core of our business, we are specialists in this field and put a lot of effort into developing tents that are safe, durable and comfortable to use. Materials need to be robust and tested for long-term performance. As a minimum, we assess and test the following safety and performance features across our tent range:
Stability and secure pitching
Even the safest tent must be pitched correctly to provide optimal protection - especially in challenging weather. We focus on stability in wind conditions, reliable pitching solutions, storm straps and features such as our Easy Pegging System. All tents are thoroughly tested to comply with ISO standards, both during production and in our own in-house test centre.
Ventilation and airflow
Mosquito nets and ventilation openings help ensure fresh air circulation and reduce the risk of condensation and an uncomfortable climate inside the tent.
Accident prevention
We design our tents with safety in mind - including luminous guylines and integrated groundsheets at the entrance to help prevent hazards. Solutions such as D-shaped doors and our Easy Access System support safe entry and exit.
User-friendly details
Our tents are developed with comfort and usability in mind, including darkened sleeping cabins for improved sleep quality, UV-resistant materials, though prolonged direct sunlight should be avoided to extend product lifespan, and flame-retardant fabrics - which are always listed under the tent’s specifications.
We also work to ensure that spare parts and repair solutions are available, helping extend the product lifetime if damage occurs.
Our goal is always to design tents that support safe, easy and enjoyable camping. For safe use, we recommend that the user manual is always read and followed
We work actively across all product categories to ensure that our products do not contain harmful chemicals. Our products must be free of substances that may negatively impact either the environment or human health. EU chemical legislation, including REACH and POPs, sets requirements and restrictions that apply to our products, and it is important to us to monitor and follow these regulations closely to ensure we comply with these.
We have chosen that our products must not contain Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), as defined under REACH legislation. These substances are legal to use, but they can be problematic for both human health and the environment. The EU list of SVHC substances is updated twice a year and continues to grow.
Whenever new substances are added to the list, we inform our suppliers so they can ensure that our products are manufactured without them.
We collaborate with recognised external testing agencies such Bureau Veritas that support us in verifying and testing our products - both for harmful chemicals and for the wider range of safety and legal requirements we must comply with.
To ensure a consistent and structured approach, we have implemented a systematic setup and an annual testing plan across our product categories. This allows us to test our products on an ongoing basis - often multiple times - to ensure we are compliant with legal requirements and continuously assess potential risks.
We also work closely with our suppliers to ensure they understand the relevant requirements and testing expectations, supporting a shared focus on compliance and product safety.
