With more than 50 years of outdoor heritage, the Robens story began in 1973, when Klaus Robens and his wife founded the company from their home in Wentorf, Germany. Surrounded by forest and the Bille Lake, the basement served as the office while tents were displayed in the front garden. From the start, the focus was on practical gear for outdoor life.

As Robens grew, the company moved into a newly built headquarters in 1988. That same year, Robens began working with industrial designer Olaf Bracht. The partnership combined a shared passion for the outdoors with a functional approach to design. Together, Olaf and Klaus designed tents and gear that combined purposeful construction with practical value on the trip. Olaf continued to design Robens tents until his retirement in 2020.

In 2000, Robens became part of Oase Outdoors. The brand expanded into new markets, broadened its range and began to develop the Scandinavian design direction that remains central today. From lightweight bivy bags and trekking tents to spacious breathable technical cotton tipis, the range has continued to evolve around the needs of outdoor enthusiasts.

For its 50th anniversary, Robens introduced an updated logo and evolved the tagline from Pure Outdoor Passion to Outdoor Passion. The packaging was also redesigned to reflect the brand’s clear, purposeful Scandinavian design identity.

Today, materials, construction and testing methods have progressed significantly. The foundation remains the same: high-performing outdoor gear, designed with practical knowledge and built for reliable use on every trip.
